It’s the first match for the Light Blues at their temporary home and sitting down to speak to the media at this afternoon’s press conference, Clement said the atmosphere and backing from the supporters can help push the team in their second match of the league season.
He said: “We are looking forward to it because you need to adapt, and we know one thing, we will again have 50,000 fans behind the team so that is an important thing that you have that amount of people.
“We will have the same amount that we have at Ibrox, and I know the fans will be behind the team to push them. It is a little bit of different scenery, but I have had the experience a few times already with half of our fans at Hampden and they made a very good atmosphere so there will be double now, so I expect more than double the atmosphere.”
In midweek, Rangers drew 1-1 with Dynamo Kyiv, and the manager gave an update on his squad and feels the performance in Poland can help his team heading into tomorrow’s match.
He said: “There were no problems after the Kyiv game, so nobody came back with knocks or injuries so that is a positive thing and it is important to integrate the new players to give them minutes. It is also important we have a game on Tuesday again, so it is looking at which players you want to start, are players ready now for 90 minutes and then Tuesday again so it is making a balance between those decisions.
“The players played a good game [on Tuesday] from the start so it was not like in the last minute you score an equaliser out of nowhere, we had at the end six good chances, and they had three good chances so that is the most important thing and then the results follow.
“It is confirmation that week by week the team is getting better, and players are getting better physical levels, so that is the way we are going to continue for the next weeks and months that is why I said also we are going to be of course better in October it is a logical thing.”
Clement was asked about summer signing Jefte, who played further forward from his more recognised left-back position on Tuesday night. On the Brazilian full-back, he said: “It was what I expected, he is a very talented player, that is why we made a big fight for six months to get him here. From January on we kept a lot of contact with him, and he was really convinced to come to Rangers although a lot of teams were interested in him.
“He was really convinced about the project here and he is a very talented player for the future who for sure need to learn still a lot of things, but it is normal, he has the right mentality to fight and be there for the team and he has a lot of physical and technical qualities also.”
