ANTONIO Colak insists he’s ‘hungry’ to win trophies both as an individual and collective at Rangers after scooping the SPFL Player of the Month award for September and October.
The Croatian has netted seven times in as many appearances over the last two months and currently leads the Scottish Premiership goalscoring charts this season.
Speaking to the media after receiving the accolade, Colak says he is motivated to achieve silverware both as an individual and for the team: "It's a big thing for me [to win the Player of the Month], especially after this short period that I've been with Rangers. First of all I have to thank all of my teammates and the staff - they've helped me reach this point.
“I have to thank my fiancée and my family, everyone that has helped me get this award. It's a big award and it means a lot to me - it motivates me to go and get more of these awards.
“It's a big motivation [to become top goalscorer]. I won it once in Croatia with 20 goals and I know how hard it is to achieve it. I have had a good start and it's a big thing as a striker to win it. Even as a kid in tournaments I wanted to be the top goalscorer and it's still the same. I'm always hungry for trophies, both personally and for the team. I hope we can win it all.”
The award caps off a positive week for the Croatian, who was named in the preliminary Croatia squad for the World Cup and will be hoping to book his seat on the plane to Qatar when the final squad is revealed next week.
He continued: "It was a big target for me before I came to Rangers. I knew that in my games at the club that I could reach this target. Now I'm in the preliminary squad, and next week we will know if I'm going [to the World Cup] or not. It's already a big honour to be there. I try to give my best every game and I hope the national team coach will recognise it.
"If you set high targets and work hard for it then you can get to another level. This makes me better as a player and as a person. It's not a surprise to me - maybe for other people - because I work hard everyday to achieve my targets and goals.”
