The Croatian marked his 29th birthday by scoring a goal in each half at Ibrox, taking his tally in a Light Blues jersey to six goals in seven league appearances this season.
Speaking to RangersTV after the victory, Colak said: "It's a very nice birthday. I couldn't dream it better than that. We won, I scored two goals. I'm really happy for that. Now I can celebrate the day a little bit.
"It was a game after a period for us where we had three defeats in a row. The important thing was to come to the winning track again. Of course we want to score more goals and create more situations, to make the game more faster. But all in all, we scored the goals that were necessary for the win."
The forward opened his account for the afternoon inside ten minutes, firing low into the bottom corner after impressive set-up play from captain James Tavernier. He then combined with Croatia teammate Borna Barisic after the restart to double the Gers’ advantage.
The 29-year-old continued: "He [Tavernier] won the ball in our half and we made the game really fast. This is also what we wanted before the game. He saw me and played the perfect pass. It was a good first touch and, after, a good finish. It was a good start to the game. My present for my birthday.
"[Myself and Borna] speak a lot off the pitch and I'm really happy for that assist. He is always searching for me. Of course sometimes there's a bit of luck whether the ball comes to me or not. Today it was the perfect connection. Both the right and left peg made the assists today which is a really nice thing for the team. I'm happy that we won.”
Rangers are next in league action when they make the trip to Tynecastle to face Hearts in a fortnight’s time, and Colak believes the upcoming international break will be beneficial in allowing the team to make improvements.
The forward added: "[The break] will be really important for us. We had a lot of games until now, the qualifiers, the Champions League, the league and of course every game we need to play at our top level to win.
“Now we have time to refresh, to relax a little bit, to clear our mind to have full energy to come back. To also work on the details to make our game better because we want to be at the top. This is our motivation for the upcoming future."
