The young defender lined up next to the Dutchman at the heart of the Rangers defence as the side claimed Glasgow Cup success for the second season running last night.
Speaking to RangersTV to reflect on the evening, he commented: “He was great, he just added that bit more experience at the back.
“He was very vocal and he came in at half time and kind of had a go at us for conceding quite late in the half but it was kind of more of a wakeup call.
“He just brought that and he drives the standards even more.
“That is what helps you progress and learn more about the game.
“It also helps winning games as well when he is in your team.”
The 17-year-old was involved in the squad in last year’s edition of the competition back in December, as he described the feeling of getting his hands on silverware.
He continued: “I am delighted, absolutely buzzing, especially to win it against your closest rivals.
“It is brilliant, I was part of the squad the last time we won it but I never got to play.
“Just coming in and experiencing it for first time then winning it the first time playing the final is brilliant.”
The youngster spoke of the game overall which went to 106 minutes following an injury to Cameron Scott before the Gers held their nerve to come up trumps on spot kicks 5-4 in the shootout after a 1-1 draw.
He added: “I think Cammy had the head knock and they added about 16 minutes on.
“A couple of the boys started getting tired but it was about sticking together, digging in and getting it over the line and we did.
“The coaches they already had a plan set up; I think it was purely like who they felt was more confident and the boys stepped up and dispatched it.
“Even the ones that missed fair play for them for stepping up.
“How hungry does this make me? Even more, this cup next year just to go again and win it but we have also got the league and it is tight.
“It gives you that extra motivation to go and win it because we know that feeling in games like that.”
