Up in Aberdeen, the Light Blues weren’t at their fluent best, but signed off for the calendar year with a 3-0 win thanks to goals from Katie Wilkinson, Laura Berry, and Shin Ji Kim’s effort directly from a corner.
Speaking to RangersTV to reflect on the result, she commented: “It was a bit patchy if I am being honest.
“I think the most pleasing aspect today is the three points and the clean sheet.
“Of course it is another step in the right direction but the game itself was patchy, a bit dysfunctional at points. I think the timing of the goals was really important, I think the way we moved the ball at points in the first half was really pleasing.
“The types of variation to the play but ultimately the timing of the goals was the difference.
“It gave us that comfort in the first half, gave us an opportunity to just try and reset and look to try and refine things in the second half and we looked for that killer third goal as quickly as we could in the second half.
“Again the timing of that allows to then make changes, ultise the group and see the game out.”
The former Scotland international was well prepared for a tough afternoon’s contest for her side at Balmoral Stadium, but says it sets the team up for their return in the new year coming out with maximum points.
She continued: “Aberdeen are a good side; I spoke to the players about that this week in regards to the preparation.
“I have got a lot of time and respect for Scott [Booth] as a Head Coach so you know you are never going to travel here and get an easy afternoon.
“I don't think where they are in terms of the league and the points that they have amassed this season is a true reflection of the group that they have got.
“I think that they are a lot better than results have shown at certain points so we know it would be difficult and we had that level of respect for them.
“They will go and they'll make it difficult for you, they will play when they have got the ball, they are a team that have got a style about them so it was up to us to combat that today.
“You know travelling up here, an early start you're on the bus it is not something that we need to do that often so it does always pose a new challenge for the group but we managed to deal with that.
“The reality was it was about the three points and travelling here and being professional this afternoon and getting the job done.
“Finishing off the year as positively as we could and it sets us up well for January.”
Having now reached the halfway point in the season, the Head Coach reflected on the campaign so far for her side, crediting the players for their efforts since her arrival in charge back at the beginning of August.
She added: “The group has been excellent, what they have given the staff and I thus far has been superb.
“Moments of adversity which we know throughout the season whether it’s been injuries or the early part of the season which was really tricky for us.
“We have navigated it as a group and I am really proud of them for that.
“I can't say that enough, it is now up to us in terms of how much we can take from this part of the season.
“How we use the break to go reflect, recharge and regroup and make sure that we come January, we are absolutely ready to go and kick on and see what we can get out of this season.
“Everyone, from start to finish from the minute I have come in the door they have been superb right up to this afternoon.
“Now it is just about the bus journey back down the road, rest everybody up and look forward to the second half of the season.”
