January recruit Calliste Brookshire secured a point six minutes from time for the Gers with a sumptuous effort, which was the least they deserved after peppering the City goal and being frustrated by an inspired goalkeeping performance from Lee Gibson.
The side showed quality in abundance against the league leaders on their own patch, who have yet to taste defeat domestically this season.
Speaking to RangersTV after the game, Crichton commented: “Was a point the least we deserved? Probably on the face it.
“When you come up against a strong Glasgow City you know how difficult it’ll be. But I thought we were magnificent today.
“I thought the manner in which we went about the game; we probably were a little careless in the first half and we were chasing it too much, especially when you go a goal behind.
“There was a little bit of nervousness and an urge that you feel you need to get after the game more than we had to.
“It was good to get into half-time and compose ourselves. I think the chances we created, and last week against Hibs was an example of that, we’ve managed to pick that up again this week, especially in the final third and middle to front we’ve been excellent.
“The chances we created; the save from Lee Gibson is a massive one and keeps us at bay.
“If we go and get the leveller at that point in the game there’s a good chance we go on and take all three points.
“We played against a strong Glasgow City side and we’re really pleased and proud of the performance.”
On the development of her side, who are unbeaten since November, the Head Coach continued: “We’re growing week in, week out, and I’ve said that since the start of the season.
“It’s not always been easy, and when you have a lot of young players in the team you need to preserve and be patient with that because you won’t always get it right.
“They’re taking on every bit of information, along with the leadership players and the more experienced ones, and the balance of the team is actually really good for us.
“We’re getting players back that have been out through injury, and they are giving us experience not only on matchdays but also on the training pitch daily.”
The leveller arrived from Brookshire, who joined the club earlier this month and produced an outstanding individual display.
Crichton says she was delighted for the winger and says she’s enjoying the transition to life in Scotland.
She added: “She was great and she’s a really exciting player. We’re so pleased to get the deal over the line and bring her here.
“She’s enjoying it and is settling in really quickly. It’s her personality for me as well – it’s not just about football. She’s brought herself and her qualities to the team.
“She came out of the traps flying and put Glasgow City on the back foot. She did start to tire, but I’m glad we kept with it and kept her in the game because of that moment of magic.
“We see it daily in training, whether it’s coming onto her right or left, it was everything that the team deserved, and for her I’m really pleased.”
