The Brazilian striker, who has spent the past six years in Holland, is looking forward to the challenge of a new club, new country, and new league as he joins Michael Beale’s squad ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Sitting down exclusively with RangersTV, he said: “I am feeling great - I am so happy. This morning when I arrived at the club, I already had so much love and it is so nice to be with the boys.
“It is always good to have a fresh start. I spoke with my wife and my agent, and I think it is a great step for us to start somewhere new and when Rangers came in, I thought it was a great opportunity for my future and for my development.
“I had never been to Scotland, it is such a special thing that I have never been here now I arrive at Rangers so everything has just combined and came together. I am excited to see what the future can bring, and I think Rangers is the right club for my development and I hope we can have success.
“The league in Holland is growing a lot and I came from the youths through to the first team and I think Scotland is a great step for me to achieve even more of my goals, so I am really glad that Rangers opened the door for me.”
The 24-year-old says positive conversations with manager Michael Beale, who spent time coaching in Danilo’s native Brazil, set his sights on a move to Rangers.
He continued: “They were great conversations, he shared his plans and how I will fit in with the squad with my qualities. He spoke about how he was in Brazil, and he can understand my country a little bit and where I come from so it was great, and it made me want to fight to join the club.
“I have been working really hard so I would love to help the team on the field and be able to celebrate with the fans. I hope I can score as many goals as I can and achieve a lot with the team and as an individual.
“The boys have been really kind and have given me a really warm welcome, it has really made me feel at home.”
Danilo has travelled with the squad to Germany ahead of tomorrow’s final pre-season friendly against Hoffenheim. He hopes he can get his first minutes on the pitch as he looks forward to playing in front of the supporters both at home and away.
He continued: “To play in front of the fans is the most special thing, especially at Ibrox, we are going to play an away game first, but I even heard the fans go wherever we go and that is what makes me more excited.
“Wherever I go I just try and do my best and I hope I can celebrate with the fans. I am really looking forward to my first friendly game, I hope I can get some minutes and then just show my quality.”
