With a full pre-season behind him, the Brazilian has been focusing on working hard to impress new head coach Russell Martin and his staff.
Speaking to the media at this afternoon’s pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Premier Sport Cup fixture against Alloa Athletic, Danilo said: “It has been good being fit in the pre-season and playing some games, and I have been working hard for moments.
“Last season was a hard season for me, and I had to build up confidence. I think when you have a full pre-season and then the confidence and the goals make you level up as well so this was great for me.
“As a new manager comes into the building you want to show your qualities and your fitness levels, so it was great for me to be ready for it. Confidence-wise it has been brilliant as well, my head is in a great place so right now it is just about momentum and just hopefully the goals come as well.”
On the impact of Russell Martin so far, the striker added: “From day one, we have been speaking, and I have been asking a lot of advice about what I can implement on my game.
“He wants to help me a lot, especially with the way we play so I am just working for the team. That is where my head is at, and I just want to help with goals and assists. I want to sacrifice with the running, and we just fight together, and that is why we are a team.
“Rangers is all about winning and there is a lot of demand. Obviously, we don't want to lose, we don't want to draw, we always want to win, that is our mindset.
“We have been unlucky at the minute that we couldn't manage to make the result better, but it is early days as well. We need to take it day by day. The good thing at Rangers is that we always have the next day and another game, so we want to improve with what the manager wants us to improve and then we just focus on that.”
Danilo says it is about the squad continuing to work on the new system and learning how to deal with difficult situations on the pitch.
He added: “When we face a difficult situation, there is always pressure, but we need everybody together and if everybody does that, then I think there is going to be a great future for us all.
“It is that simple, we just have to focus on what we can improve, what we can make better and then I think the mindset will get better as well.
“We just follow the principles that the manager wants and that will help us on the field to calm down and make it better.”
