Danny Rohl Delighted To Book Place In The Next Round

DANNY Röhl says he’s delighted that his side booked their place in the next round of the Scottish Cup after a convincing 5-0 victory over Annan Athletic this evening.

It was a fine evening’s work for the Gers who looked in the mood from the outset, with the result punctuated by a first career hat-trick for Bojan Miovski.

Speaking to RangersTV after the triumph, the Head Coach commented: “It was a good result. You always know playing against this team that it’s not always so easy.

“I think in the first five or six minutes you felt that, a little bit on the front foot and some long balls in behind, then it’s a team that is not playing usually together.

“In the beginning you need a bit of time, but in the end 5-0 is a good result. Now we can enjoy the next two days and it’s time for the big games for us.

“We have big goals this season, which starts with Europe which is also important. It’s been a good day – signing three players this week.

“All in all, we can be very happy at this moment. Let’s carry on in this direction with the fans all together, the board, myself, the group, and if we do this we’ll be in a good way.”

The evening also saw Andreas Skov Olsen unveiled in front of the Ibrox crowd alongside January recruits, Tochi Chukwuani and Tuur Rommens, while 17-year-old Zebedee Lawson made his first senior appearance for the club.

On a positive night, Röhl continued: “We had a debut from an Academy player too. It was a nice goal from a free-kick from Thelo, which is now four goals in five games.

“I’m happy. No injuries. Oliver [Antman] would normally start but he was ill. I’m happy and looking forward to the next challenge.

“It’s always important for us as a club and also the Academy. It was a shame I wasn’t allowed to take Kyle [Glasgow] and Ashton [Scally]. It should be an opportunity for these players to play, but there are rules.

“These are high potential players. We like them and want to keep them. Hopefully if they have the right age then they can help us as well.”

Skov Olsen entered the Ibrox pitch to a rapturous reception before the game, becoming the third addition of the January transfer window.

The Danish international has joined on loan until the end of the season, with an option to make permanent this summer, and the Head Coach is delighted to bring him on board.

He added: “Andreas is an experienced one. He can score and it’s nice to have a left foot on the right side.

“He had a fantastic season at Club Brugge which is nice. We want to give them a great opportunity and strengthen our squad in a different areas.

“All three players will help us - there were first minutes from Tochi after a busy week.”
