The Gers were staring down the barrel when goals from Ben Broggio and Finn Yeats put the home side in a commanding position, but Tochi Chukwuani struck before the interval to restore hope.
A swashbuckling second period followed for Rangers who completed the turnaround and, sandwiched between a Calvin Miller spot-kick for the hosts, claimed a priceless three points through braces from Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski and a terrific strike from Nico Raskin.
Speaking to RangersTV after the game, the Head Coach said: “We struggled in the first ten to 15 minutes. We weren’t really in tune with the pitch and found ourselves in a difficult moment being 2-0 down.
“I thought pulling it back to 2-1 before half-time was crucial, and then at half-time we were very calm and said some tactical things.
“But the spirit is there, and there’s no question mark. We know what we can do, and what we have to improve, and we did.
“And then in the second half it was in one direction. We played good football, created good ball-winning situations, were clinical in front of goal, and very aggressive. This is what we need to do.
“I liked the reaction after the game. A couple of months ago after a game we were not in the best moment, but today you see the relationship with the fans is there. We are together and we keep believing.
“They have the quality, the spirit, the belief, and also the mentality to achieve something. Football is complex in some moments, and you need to bring everything together.
“It was a game today from the consequences of the last couple of weeks, how we’re growing and improving together, and even though everything wasn’t perfect the reaction was outstanding. I’m proud of the group.”
In scoring six times this afternoon, the Gers added to the four they plundered against both Aberdeen and Dundee United at Ibrox recently.
They have found their goalscoring groove at exactly the right time, and with a home fixture against Motherwell kicking off their post-split fixtures in a fortnight’s time Röhl wants his side to reset and go again.
He added: “It’s much easier when you go into a small break with a win. It’s about recovering, putting in some good sessions, work on the small details, and then be ready for the split.
“We have worked really hard to get into a position, and everyone fought and hoped, and now it’s five finals.
“In the last three games we have scored 14 goals. It shows a lot of power upfront. We need to speak about the mistakes against the ball, and it’s where we need to improve.
“It’s nice to have two centre forwards scoring, both No. 6’s scored, and this is great. It’s now about focussing; five more finals.”
