A James Tavernier penalty on the stroke of half-time gave Rangers a deserved lead at the break, but the visitors equalised in the second-half to share the points on the evening.
Speaking to RangersTV at full-time, the head coach said: “We are disappointed with the draw but today I saw my team be competitive in Europe, and play against a team who have taken the wins from four so far in the competition.
“We played a good 60 minutes, but sometimes in the transition moments we were not clinical enough. I think the lead was deserved and then we also started well in the second-half and we created some moments.
“Then there was one mistake, and the red card always changed the game and they then played a little more direct.
“From the position we were in, there is no question mark that we are going in the right direction. Everyone wants to be quicker, but in football it is also small steps and today I saw a huge step for 60 minutes, but now it is about doing that for 90 minutes.”
Röhl hopes the squad can take belief as he knows they must pick-up more points in the three remaining games of the league phase.
He continued: “I think they felt today we were really competitive, I think in the last games they didn’t have that feeling that we were competitive in Europe.
“Today they felt like if we play well and do our things right that we have a chance to win such games as well. We have to learn from the last 30 minutes but there’s no question for me that we are heading in the right direction.
“It was a team performance, you saw after 10 minutes we created more confidence, and it started with ball winning situations, and then the goal was deserved.
“I really had the feeling that we controlled this game, and it was for me the first time in Europe that we controlled a game and from this part it is the right way.
“We want to win more games in this competition, we have to, but we have to be honest to each other and I see my group getting better and better every day and it is the process.”
