Danny Rohl: I Want To See The Right Attitude Against Brann

DANNY Röhl wants to see the right attitude from his squad tomorrow evening as the head coach takes charge of his first match in the UEFA Europa League.

Rangers are in Norway to take on SK Brann, and with two days on the training pitch with the squad, Röhl knows it will not be a perfect game but is demanding the right mindset as they look for a positive result.

Speaking to the media at this evening’s pre-match press conference, he said: “We have a clear idea, but it is about the right attitude. I expect a very intense game, and I think we will face a team who are well organised and play with a good pressure.

“It will be a fight for second balls as well and we have to be ready for this. I know it will not be the perfect game, but it is not necessary to have the perfect game. It is important to have a successful game tomorrow and I think with this mindset we should.

“I have enjoyed getting straight into this club and getting the feeling of what it means to be manager here and the last two training sessions went very well.

“The team listened, they tried to follow what we wanted to do and tomorrow we have a great start with this game. It is not normal that you start straight away with a European game at a new club, but I am really looking forward to it.”

Röhl has been happy with what he has seen from his players in these early stages, and believes there is a lot of potential in the group.

He continued: “I must say I met all of the players and when I speak with them, I see a smile on their face, and it gives me a good belief that we are on the right path.

“I think this is very important, we have to turn the negative energy and the disappointments into positive energy, and this is our mindset. I try every day to give this belief, and I hope with my team and with the coaches that we can make the turnaround quickly and tomorrow we can make a good step forward.

“I see a lot of good things, and I am also convinced that if we work day by day some players will surprise people because they will get better and better. I see as well that some players have not played at their highest level and that is what we have to bring.

"We have to find the reasons why and I am convinced that if you give them solutions of what we want to do and how we want to do it then they will also make steps forward.”

When asked about what changes we could expect to see from the side tomorrow, Röhl added: “We will have maybe some changes in the starting XI but I was honest with my team today in that after two days you have to take the impression from video and from the training session because you need a bit more time to know all the details.

“It is also important for me as coach because I like to make adjustments during the game and then it is important to understand which players you can bring in which situation.

“For me it was about speaking about basic things, not overloading them with too many details but they need some things to improve especially in Europe when you have such a game ahead.”
