The Light Blues saw off Bulgarian side Ludogorets at Ibrox thanks to a first-half Mohamed Diomande goal, with the Gers victorious at the seventh attempt in Europe this season.
Speaking to RangersTV to reflect on the result, the Head Coach now wants his side to continue striving for more. He said: “When you win 1-0 with a clean sheet, I think this is, in general, very positive. The first win in Europe, we spoke about that we wanted to make this process forward.
“Now in the last three games against Braga we could win, away we should take minimum a point, and today we won, our first three points.
“Now it is seven wins in a row. I think this is fantastic, but our demands are higher.
“Especially in the second half, we showed some good situations and chances, but then we have to close the game earlier, two or three nil, then we would not have the situation against us.
“I think this is generally a part we have to improve; we have to use our chances.
“All in all, at the moment I am happy with the process, but I know the following games are again tough.
“We can do more, it is not about 99 per cent, it is always about 100 per cent, and this is what we need, and this is the reason why we are at the moment in this situation with a lot of wins, and this is what I demand from my group again on Sunday.”
The German highlighted the number of chances his side created, but was happy they were able to find a breakthrough coming via a second phase in a set piece.
He continued: “I think Jack [Butland] had a good save. We created some really good moments, especially second half.
“We spoke at halftime about two things: adapting our pressing in the second half to be a little bit more aggressive.
“That was more of what I want to see, it was better than we spoke about. We want to come between the lines in the red zone.
“We created in these moments more and more chances that was great.
“Now it is about the final stages of the action in scoring more goals, but all in all I think the process at the moment is great and we should be happy for this, but also demanding, and this is the standard we want to see.
“I think this is a part, but I also saw a lot of chances from open play today from building it up, which was also great to see, but this is then about finishing, and I wish that we use the chances as well.”
Attention for the Gers now turns back to league business as Dundee are the visitors in three days’ time, with Röhl insisting his team must be at it from the off to claim the result they want.
He added: “I demand and I respect the opponent [Dundee]. They will fight for everything, for every inch; they will be very compact and aggressive.
“They play physical, they go full on for second balls, free kicks and corners. It is a different kind of style than what we expect, and we have to be sharp.
“We have to do the basics right; we have enough quality to follo,w but if we make less steps, then all of these opponents can hurt us, and this is about a consequence.
“Be on the front foot, give 100 per cent focus on our job. Don't look to the left or right, look just to our performance. If we do this, then we have a chance to win the next game.”
