It was a contest not without drama as Jack Butland preserved all three points five minutes from time when he thwarted Jamie McGrath from 12 yards.
Indeed, the winning moment arrived 80 minutes earlier when Danilo struck in the opening exchanges, with the Gers showing impressive resilience to limit Hibs to very few sightings at goal.
Speaking to RangersTV after the triumph, Röhl commented: “I’m very happy and proud for my team because I knew we put so much effort in, then at the end with the penalty you never know what can happen.
“But my team done really well today. It’s about winning football games, and to win football games you need a lot of things.
“Today my team showed we can suffer sometimes, that we can defend as a group, that we’re more and more connected and running for each other.
“And when we do those basics right we have more of a chance of winning football games.
"We have a lot of quality in the team, but at first it’s about this hard working.
“We spoke about beating an opponent who were unbeaten in 16 games at home, and it’s exactly the challenge that we need; also some signals about growing together.
“It was the first clean sheet in over one year, then you beat a team who were unbeaten at home in 16 games. We showed a good team performance.”
It was a second successive league victory under the new Head Coach after Sunday’s win over Kilmarnock at Ibrox.
In doing so, the Gers recorded back-to-back triumphs for the first time this campaign, and Röhl says it’s important that his side continue to evolve as a group.
He added: “If you take the last two games, at home we have a lot of ball possession, find solutions, and create a lot of opportunities.
“Today, in possession, it was about being organised, and the early goal helps, and it was about the rest defence.
“The second half, for me, was clear, not gifting them too much space behind our last line, inviting them a little bit more that we can attack them in transition moments.
“We probably weren’t clean enough to create big, big chances, but all in all it’s important for me to see we’re growing as a group.
“When you defend the 1-0 for 85 minutes after going ahead, it’s great.
“I think now we have two things: at the weekend we were very focussed after the 1-1 and won the game, we come through some difficult moments, we run, fight and help each other, and these two things are the basics.
“A big thank you to our fans. I think they appreciated the effort today, and I think if we do our job on the pitch then we’ll have a great relationship and connection with our fans.”
