After Monday’s defeat at Tynecastle, the Gers boss says his team have to show a reaction on the pitch to respond with victory when they make the trip across the city to face their rivals
Speaking to the media in today’s pre-match press conference, he said: “It's a special game for us. It was straight after the game as well, the message to my players, that we have a big responsibility for the last three games to go.
“Nobody needs any extra motivation to go win this game. We want to make our supporters and fans proud, and it means we have to deliver on Sunday.
“For us, it is about winning games, and that is more than just about stopping someone else or about winning a title for us; it is about making supporters proud, and it means for us to deliver a good result and hopefully three points.”
The Light Blues claimed the bragging rights on their previous visit to Parkhead earlier in the year, completing a second-half turnaround thanks to a Youssef Chermiti double and Mikey Moore finish, with the Head Coach wanting his side to replicate the good parts from that day in their final 25/26 meeting.
He continued: “This game was a good picture of some games in the last couple of weeks. In the first half, we started well, then the opponent was better.
“They scored, then we readjusted some things at half-time.
“We had a plan B, then we turned it into 3-1, and we showed that we can do this.
“It gives me as well, and all of us, that it was a little bit like the starting point that we really felt the belief that even if something does not go right during a game, that we can turn things in the right direction.
“It was a good atmosphere after the game; it also gives us the starting point for eight wins in a row.
“We want to go there and put all the things that we should do in this game and play for a good result for us.”
The German voiced his frustrations from the loss in the capital earlier in the week, but highlighted what he wants his team to improve from the training pitch into their penultimate away game of the season.
He added: “I think this is crucial, we have to play not just 45 minutes of good football, we have to change to 90 minutes to dominate the game and all these things.
“It makes me really convinced that we could do this next time together, and I am looking forward.
“I was disappointed after the game because you put in six months of hard work, effort, positivity, and I think here everyone in this room and outside was totally convinced we go into the split and we have a big chance, and this is also part of why it is a disappointment so hard now to accept.
“From this point forward, for the new season, a big motivation to be better every day, increase the standards and make the step forward that we want.
“It is how we bring good performance from training on the pitch because this is the most important thing.
“You can be the world champion in training, but you have to bring it on the pitch.
“We need in some moments a great game management to come through some difficult moments because every game there are some moments where our opponent can be back in the game.
“I think, regardless, we spoke at half time on Monday exactly about this point, we said we have to go again with full energy because they will come now.
“You have to come over the first 10-15 minutes, and then you can control the game again.
“If you take the outcome from the last two results, it is that we are very straight with what we want in there in the future, in the summer, I think that helps to make that very strong.”
