Tuesday night marked another big three points for the Light Blues, as they racked up a fourth Scottish Premiership victory in succession in the process.
Speaking to the media this morning as he prepares his side for the second installment of their Aberdeen double header on Sunday, he commented: “Surprised at the team’s form? I am not surprised; I am happier at how we have improved as a group.
“We are still not at the end where we want to go. I think this is also important to understand. We have to improve more parts of the game and consistently over minutes.
“Surprised with a lot of good results at the moment and surprised at the position we are not in no man's land, we are really involved in a race, and this is fantastic.
“They will be a different opponent to Tuesday because their environment, stadium and the atmosphere will be different to Tuesday.
“They will challenge us, we have them opportunities on Tuesday in counter-attacks, we have to be very sure that we don't give them so many opportunities because they also have some players that can hurt us.
“If we play on our highest level again, then we have a big chance to take the next three points.”
The Head Coach highlighted the adaptability of his side recently, but says they were always under the demands of having to win as soon as he arrived at the club back in October.
He continued: “Our club and expectations are so high that you are never under the radar here.
“You have to deliver; you have to take points. The pressure is on here, and we make our own pressure. We want to win games, and we want to be involved in the title race.
“Now we are there, it is three points behind the top, of course, they still have one game in hand.
“I think the first thing is we took points and wins; this is the good part.
“We are more and more flexible; this is a big credit to my group now.
“This is also how I coach; it is never just one shape or one direction.
“We have improved as much as we can in this direction, and we have different tools. This is also a big part of the development. We have scored now after two set plays, it helps us. We scored against Celtic after transition moments.
“I saw more and more principles with the ball, what we want to see, but if you do the basics right and you win the games, then you are in a good way.”
Röhl reflected on his journey over the past few months in Glasgow and the fundamentals he had to set from the off, but feels he was well equipped to come in during a challenging period due to a previous coaching experience.
He added: “The big advantage for me is that I had exactly the same situation two years ago.
“Of course, another size of club, but also in a challenging situation. We were straight in a relegation fight; everyone thought we were relegated.
“Here, everyone has told me we are not in the title race and the season is over. I think that helps. For me as a coach, it is very clear how you have to act in October compared to the summer.
“You have a summer you can prepare; you can really work on your principles. When you arrive in October, it is about finding the first way to win games.
“I think when I look back to my first league game against Kilmarnock, it was the reason why I changed to a back three.
“Then, and I think this is for me always the challenge, the first four weeks you have to know all the players in detail, because it helps during the game to change something.
“At the beginning, you have a view on the players, but you don't really have a detailed view of how you can impact with subs.
“I think you see this more and more. I can play more and more now with the tool as well.
“If you have an order, it is winning games, implement your style of football, then you make a togetherness with the fans, and I think this is, at the moment, exactly where we are.”
