David McCallum Reacts To East Stirlingshire Win

DAVID MCCALLUM has been reflecting on his team’s third consecutive win in the Lowland League after a victory at the Falkirk Stadium against East Stirlingshire.

A first half goal from Cole McKinnon and essential saves from Jay Hogarth saw the young Gers earn their third win and clean sheet of the campaign.

Speaking to RangersTV after the game McCallum said: “That was a tough game. I think the standard has proven to be what we expected and the games are becoming quite challenging.

“I think we deserved to be 1-0 up in the first half, I think in the second half we had to be resilient and we had to defend our box a lot. East Stirlingshire tried to press us and their energy in the second half went up a couple of levels. Nothing is going to be straightforward and it’s good that is the way it’s going to be.”

McCallum highlighted that the standard of the Lowland League is allowing the B Team to learn in areas across the pitch, continuing: “From our point of view it was pleasing the way our boys defended our box properly. We had to be really dominant in that area to make sure we kept a clean sheet again.

“I think it wasn't just a physical challenge but a football challenge tactically and technically as well. More importantly it was the performance from the guys. If we get the performance right we have a better chance of getting the result.

“I think every part of our team, individually and as a group, were challenged today and it was pleasing that we came through in the end.”
