Davies was part of a back three, alongside Connor Goldson and John Souttar and felt the squad grew into the game as they adapted to the new formation.
Speaking to RangersTV at full-time, he said: “I think it is a good point away from home. A clean sheet is really important. I have said before that if you don't concede you can't lose games, so I think it is a good place to start.
“We grew into the game, I think in the second-half we were better than the first-half we played a few more passes and found our players in better areas but I think both sides were trying to win the game and it probably was an entertaining watch.
“It suited us better when we started playing some more passes and we showed more composure on the ball and then we could find our passes and we could find ourselves breaking a lot more in the second-half and that is what the manager wanted at half-time and I think it worked a bit better as the game went on.
“We were fairly solid in the second-half and in control of most of it but obviously it was a bit of a game of two halves. In the first-half we needed Jack [Butland] a couple of times to bail us out with some blocks but we are happy with the clean sheet.”
With Rangers and Sparta both on four points in Group C, they face each other at Ibrox on November 9.
Davies continued: “Any game away from home in Europe is going to be tough at times and we have obviously got them at home in a few weeks so we will be looking to try and get a positive result then and continue to build on our performances.”
