It will be the first match in the dugout for Davis, who was announced as interim manager on Sunday evening, and he hopes an ‘intense’ couple of days can pay off as the squad look to make it two wins from two in Group C.
Speaking to the media this afternoon ahead of the match, Davis said: “ It has been a really intense couple of days trying to get as much footage and see as many things as possible.
“Looking at Limassol’s games they have changed systems three times in the last five games, but a lot of their principles remain the same so hopefully we have done a good job in terms of that and the players will be well prepared.
“I think for us we want to go out and play the game and play to our strengths really. We are playing in the Europa League and had a really positive result against Betis, and it is up to us to continue that, and we know a result tomorrow puts us in a really strong position.
“I have been around a lot of the players and played with a lot of them so I know their strengths and it is about giving them the platform to showcase what they can do.
“Limassol are an athletic side, they like to put runners in behind, play forward quickly so we are going to have to get the balance right.”
When asked about making the step-up from being a part of the playing squad to manager, Davis doesn’t see there being any issues as he takes on his new role.
He continued: “I have a lot of respect for everybody in that dressing room and I feel that is reciprocated. Obviously, we all want the same thing, we all want to be successful and win games of football on a consistent basis.
“There is a lot of character within the dressing room, we have got a lot of leaders within there as well and everybody knows it is the time to step up.”
Davis said he appreciates the support he has received since being announced as interim boss.
He continued: “I have got the experience beside me of Alex Rae, Colin Stewart and Steven Smith and Brian Gilmour. I have had different messages from a lot of managers who I worked under but I haven't had the chance to respond because it has been so intense preparing for the game. I really appreciate the support I have been given but I haven't had the chance to reach out to anybody or felt the need to just yet.
“We are all together to try and get the results that we want and get back to where we want to be.”
