The Light Blues were impressive throughout the contest at Petershill Park and took a deserved lead through Rachel McLauchlan’s first half strike. They looked destined to take home all three points before they were pegged back through Jenna Clark’s late header only for striker Kirsty Howat to round the opposing keeper at the other end shortly after and fire in a stoppage time winner in a dramatic ending in Glasgow.
Speaking to RangersTV after the match the defender has praised the side for pushing until the end to find another goal and respond to their late setback.
She said: “I think from start to finish the match was great, it was in our favour, defensively we had it locked down and we were really organised, we just continued to knock on the door until we got that first goal.
“I think we did a great job carrying that momentum throughout the game, then the last 10 minutes unfortunately giving up a goal but you could just feel the energy the whole match that we were on top and we were going to get another one.
“It just speaks to the character of the group that we kept on going and we ended up finding that game winning goal.”
The centre-back has commended the team for remaining defensively sound throughout as they limited the hosts to few clear cut opportunities throughout despite conceding the late goal.
She continued: “We are just a very defensively organised team, credit to everybody in the back line who steps in, and the midfield right in front screening everything.
“It was disappointing to concede the goal from a set piece but to bounce back, they didn't have too many chances the whole game, I think they only had one or two shots on target.
“That just speaks of the whole back line and team keeping the ball in front of us and staying organised.”
Davison says the side felt confident they were going to come away with Petershill with a positive result beforehand and has applauded the team’s play overall in the game clinching goal.
She added: “It was so good, there is so much energy and adrenaline throughout the team, we felt the energy all week and we knew that we going to come away with a win and expect nothing less.
“Even though there was the late equaliser we still knew, just the play building up to it and Kirsty putting it away, the patience everything, I am just proud of the group.”
The American says it is good to be back involved in the title picture as the victory brings the Gers to within three points of the league leaders with six games still to play as Rangers get ready for their next outing in the Scottish Cup semi-final this Saturday afternoon.
She said: “We want to keep the momentum going, go on and take ourselves into the final and just keep on doing what we are doing.
“It feels good to be back in the run for the league title and just keep that belief going and it is going to carry us until the end of the season, there is still a lot to win and a lot of work to do and we are up for it.”
