Leading 4-2, Gers won 3-1 at Ibrox tonight to see off the tough Danish outfit, with Davis pleased with how the Light Blues started the match to avoid any nervousness.
The Northern Ireland legend explained: “It’s a really good return as they have good quality in their team. The first leg result was a massive one coming into tonight, and we carried on from there.
“We didn’t want to give them any incentive in the game tonight, so we wanted to start bright and get ourselves in front. The first goal was always going to be important tonight, and we managed to get it.
“We scored three good goals though we were disappointed obviously to concede and not keep a clean sheet, but overall, we are delighted to progress into the next round.
“You can see how we have played in the qualifiers we have had so far that we’re desperate to get into the group stages.
Gers were again hugely impressive in their play tonight, and Davis continued: “You can see with the way we are playing we are enjoying ourselves. We are creating chances, scoring goals and the team is looking strong.
“It has been a good start to the season. We had a good pre-season and we have carried that on. It is still early days and there a lot of things we can improve on as well, but overall, we are happy with where we are at just now.”
Gers tonight added midfielder Andy King to the squad, and the added competition in his area of the park is something Davis is relishing.
He said: “We all now playing for a club of the stature of Rangers, there is going to be competition for places. I am sure it will be a good thing for us through the course of the season.
Gers will now swap the 50,000 of Ibrox for around 2000 fans at East Fife’s New Bayview on Sunday in the Betfred Cup, and Davis added: “That’s what you get in cup competitions. It’s a massive game for them, and we want to make sure we are in the next round.
“We’ll start our recovery straight after the game tonight and look forward to Sunday and be ready to go again.”
