THE 29-year-old believes the new coaching duo match up well with a wide range of experience in both the women’s and men’s game. With Kevin joining as Malky’s assistant in July, the squad have been enjoying getting back into pre-season training.
Speaking to RangersTV, she said: “Kevin is great, I had heard a few things about him before he joined.
“I think a few of my teammates were coached by him before but he's a lovely guy and he brings something different to what Malky brings to the squad.
“They are so different experience and personality wise, Malky is more vocal and Kevin seems to be the one that stays calm from what I've found out through pre-season.
“Obviously Malky coming from the men’s side has been a big change for us as well and Kevin brings the experience from the women's game so I think they match up pretty well.”
Demi also praised the support the players received from the backroom staff during the difficult lockdown period.
She continued: “Lockdown was very long for everyone so it is nice to get back into a routine and back training with all the girls.
“For the first eight weeks of lockdown I had hurt my back so I was just doing a lot of home gym work that the physio was giving me but once I was able to get out running we just had a running programme that we were all following.
“The backroom staff at Rangers were fantastic throughout the whole lockdown there's so many support groups and we were lucky that people were checking in.”
Demi has already had a taste of competitive action this season with 90 minutes under her belt for Northern Ireland in a 6-0 victory over the Faroe Islands as they push for a Euro 2022 qualifying play-off spot.
She continued: “It was obviously a bit strange playing an international match before you start your club season but it was great to get 90 minutes of competitive football.
“It was a massive win for us so we have got another one coming up in three weeks so we are looking to win that too.
Back in Glasgow, Demi says the Gers squad can’t wait to get back on the pitch as they kick their season off against Hearts on Sunday, October 18.
“Everybody is buzzing, we have had a few pre-season friendlies so it is good to get 90 minutes but I think we are all looking forward to the league because we had such a good start in March so hopefully we can start the same way.
“We have had an extended pre-season now so we have had that little bit of extra time to get to know each other and I think we are starting to come together as a team.
“The girls were excited to get out of lockdown and then we were excited to get back training so we are really excited to play as a team and get the league up and running.”
