DEREK McInnes was pleased with the organisation and aggression of his team as they rounded off pre-season with a draw against West Ham at Ibrox.
The manager was also delighted to see over 48,000 supporters there to get behind the team, as focus now turns to the start of the Scottish Premiership season on Friday.
Speaking to RangersTV at full-time, he said: “In terms of the team we were up against, there was a demand and a concentration needed for the game, and I thought for that side of it getting a clean sheet, and we were quite alright.
“We were strong in the first half; I was pleased with a lot of what we got. I am just disappointed that we never made more of some good positions, either with our final cross; we were turning down chances to shoot and try and put them under a bit more pressure.
“I was pleased with the organisation of the team and the aggression; it was a step on from where we were during the week and the game demanded that. It was also fantastic having so many supporters here. There are not many clubs who would be able to get that in a pre-season friendly, so I thank the fans for turning up in big numbers. They are desperate to get behind something, and we all know that.
“We got through the game hopefully unscathed. Thelo landed on his shoulder a bit awkwardly, but we think he will be okay for Friday, and Cammy took a kick in his calf, but again I've been assured he'll be fine for the game.”
Reflecting on the last month of pre-season, the manager continued: “Training has been a lot more intense from the first few days, where we needed to be training at a better tempo, playing in a different gear, and I do think the players have worked extremely hard.
“The majority have done the majority of the session, so physically we are in a decent place. Some haven't played the game time they would've liked considering how hard they have worked, but that is sometimes the way it is at a big club like this; you can't keep everybody happy. In the main, we are quietly confident we will be ready physically for the demands of Friday.
“There is no doubt Dundee United have got an obvious advantage in the fact they have played competitive football, but we knew that, and I think we have been competitive in the last few friendlies and in that sense I think it will help us with the preparation for Friday night. We are pleased with what the players have given us.”
