Dessers: Boss Wants A Winning Machine

CYRIEL DESSERS says boss Philippe Clement wants to turn his Rangers side into a winning machine.

The Light Blues ran out comfortable 2-0 victors at Livingston – courtesy of Dessers’ opener and James Tavernier’s penalty – to keep up the Gers boss’ unbeaten start.

It could have been more with skipper Tavernier missing a first half spot-kick, with Connor Goldson and Ross McCausland having a goal ruled out in his first start.

But Dessers was delighted with the win and believes the team is only going to get better.

Speaking to Rangers TV, he said: “The gaffer told us we are a strong team in this league and the way we played in the first half we made it difficult for Livingston to get into the game.

“We scored some goals, which were disallowed, but even with the setbacks we kept going and we got our reward with a good win.

“It was an unbelievable pass from Tom Lawrence for my goal and we knew he could do that as he has shown it already this season with Rabbi Matondo’s goal at St Johnstone.

“When he got the ball I made the run and it was a perfect pass and I managed to score.

“The gaffer’s style of play suits the characteristics of the team and the players we have which is a really good thing.

“These last few weeks we have been growing and getting better and I think this is just the beginning.

“He wants us to become a machine and hopefully we can grow to that standard.”

Dessers was blown away by the number of travelling fans who made the trip to the Tony Macaroni Arena.

The striker was delighted to send them home happy and insists it was important to go into the two-week international break with a victory ahead of the trip to Aberdeen on November 26.

He added: “We can be very pleased with the performance in front of a large support and give them a good feeling going into the international break.

“It was important to keep up the momentum, especially when we don’t play for two weeks which is rare for us.

“We wanted to go into the international break with a win so it is good.

“I heard we would have a lot of fans and when I came out for the warm-up and I saw them it is amazing and it gives you a good feeling.”
