Speaking for the first time having made the switch back to Scotland having worked in a role within the SFA before moving across the Atlantic, he commented: “It is such an exciting time to be part of the club. The work that the people have done who have come for me, friends and former colleagues, has been utterly groundbreaking.
“I feel a bit spoiled actually coming into this job because I understand having worked in the girls' and women's game for 20 plus years the amount of effort, the buy in and the energy that it takes to get to this point. When you have got an investment from a professional club, that is huge.
“Their work has really allowed me to come in at a point where the question isn't ok how do we establish? he platform is there. What we need to do now is progress to a point where the ambitions are now being stretched beyond what we have here.
“I feel kind of spoiled that I have got the opportunity to really get my teeth into something that is at that point already.
“It really is just a testament to the club, the board and the people who have come for me, both players, head coaches and academy directors. All of these people who have put the work in to be able to be at this point.”
Gillies spoke of the group of players at the club who have been enjoying a vastly impressive campaign so far and he believes everyone involved is coming together to bring that success they have up to this stage.
He added: “The vision is still evolving if I am going to be honest. I think the vision is driven by the people; we are including players in that. The group of players who are at the club right now are a group that are special.
“You don't always get that; I think that Jo has brought them together in a way that is providing a greater focus than what is happening on the field. We look at the young players coming in, they feel like they have been about for many years because of the way the more experienced have grabbed hold of them.
“That is just about values and how they think and feel about one another and wanting to bring success. That then breeds success which you obviously have been seeing in how they have performed so far this year.
“Jo is keen to stress that they haven't won anything yet. They have obviously performed at a really high level. Levels that I don't think I have necessarily seen in this country before and I want to see that continue for many years to come.
“I think the vision will evolve along those lines, there is young and experience in the vision, hopefully at the end of it there will be trophies.”
