The 18-year-old becomes the third player to agree pro terms with the club this summer following in the footsteps of youngsters Laura Berry and Mia McAulay who put pen to paper on deals earlier this month.
Speaking to RangersTV after signing the deal the defender is looking forward to improving and learning under her new head coach as she spoke on her being back with the squad in pre-season training.
She said: “I am really excited, you can see in training already that she is very good and that she gives you tips all the time and she wants to just make you a better player, so I am hoping she makes me one.
“It has been really good, I think it has been good to just play at a high level again, the training is always a really high standard and it very competitive, so it is good to be in amongst it.”
The defender reflected on her journey through the youth setup to this stage as she hailed the academy as a whole after becoming the sixth player to agree pro terms with the Light Blues in the last 12 months.
She continued: “I have played with the academy since I was 12, played through U14s, U16s and U18s right through to the first team, it has just been a really good experience. I have had to sacrifice a lot, not being able to go out with my friends because of training and games, but I wouldn’t change that for anything.
“Just being able to see people actually progressing from academy to first team and them showing that there is a way to do it and you can do it and I need to be able to believe that I can as well.
“I think winning the league at U18s and being unbeaten within that was really good, I think it just shows how good the academy is at Rangers.”
Austin spent the second half of last season on loan at Hamilton and she believes that time away and also learning off the senior members of the Gers squad have helped her gain experience and improve further as a player.
She added: “I don’t think I would be the player I am right now without going out on loan, it brought me out my shell and made me a bit more confident and it just gave me experience playing at SWPL level, which is what I needed.
“They have helped me a lot, just welcomed me in, it is good to be able to learn off them, I think that they are all very good players and can all play at a very high level so to be able to just learn off them is amazing.”
