The defender headed home a James Tavernier corner inside the opening 10 minutes to help Danny Röhl’s side to their fourth Scottish Premiership victory in a row.
Speaking to RangersTV at full-time, Fernandez said: “It has been a while, I enjoyed it out there.
"I was getting into the rhythm of things, obviously I haven't played for a while, but I am very happy with the goal, and I am very happy with the result.
“We played against a resilient opposition, and we had to be resilient in the end when we went 2-1 up.
“Obviously games like these can be tough, you have to stay switched on as we saw in the first half, but at least we came out on the good receiving end so we cannot complain.”
Injuries to John Souttar and Derek Cornelius saw the defender drafted into the starting line-up today, and he hopes it can be the start of more opportunities for Rangers.
He continued: “It is tough when people are doing well in my position, or when people are trusted in my position you have to wait your turn, but the main thing is just training well and hoping your opportunity will come.
“The coaches have come in, and they have been great with me, they have given me a lot of information. If I go and talk to them it has been very transparent, and I couldn't be more grateful. I got my opportunity today and we got a good result.”
Fernandez hopes the result can help the team continue to build positivity heading into a busy run of fixtures. He said: “It’s true, the main thing is building momentum. If you are getting four in a row, you go for five and then you see where you go from there.
“If you are getting a good rhythm, everyone feels better, everyone wants to get on the ball more, everybody wants to show what they can do and freedom comes into play.”
