She was one of a number of loyal supporters from a variety of backgrounds who generously donated their time to take part in the campaign photoshoot in the summer and is also a founder member of the Ibrox Pride Supporter’s Club, which was launched in November 2018.
Rangers is proud to back the group for members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT+) community and Rhiannon is delighted her football club is taking a leading role in this area.
The 27-year-old, whose picture is displayed in an Everyone Anyone billboard at Ibrox Stadium, said:
“We are a very diverse club and it is important that everyone feels welcome.
“It was really good to be involved and I got to see the campaign from the very start and was able to see its progress.
“Everyone involved from the club was so supportive and welcoming and I enjoyed taking part in the photoshoot.
“It was a really nice experience and it is all genuine Rangers in the campaign and I love that, it’s one of the reasons I wanted to be involved.
“The photographer was so lovely and put us all at ease. He made us all feel comfortable doing the pictures and it was great seeing the final results.
“My picture looks really good but it is weird seeing my face up everywhere in the subways and at the stadium.
“All the pictures look really good though and I am so pleased they have turned out so well.
“On launch day, I was going home with my sister and my face appeared on an advert on one of the displays at the bus stop, it was a strange feeling but a nice feeling and I was really happy to take part. I am delighted the club care so much about supporters like me. That’s the important thing.”
The Everyone Anyone campaign aims to unite people from all backgrounds, cultures and communities and all the supporters who took part in the campaign are united by a common bond – their love for Rangers.
Rhiannon, who works as a carer, says supporting a campaign that champions inclusion, tolerance and diversity is extremely important to her.
She continued:
“When the campaign launched you could see, particularly on social media, what other supporters thought of it and it brings fans together as the majority see this really is a club for everyone.
“We need this campaign and it is very important to have.
“Education is crucial and having other supporters from all walks of life coming out and supporting Everyone Anyone is a positive step.
“There will always be a minority in society who don’t want to listen but this campaign can have a positive impact and I am so happy to play my part.
“Being involved in Ibrox Pride then being asked to be included in the Everyone Anyone campaign makes me feel so pleased.
“It is a pleasure for me to be involved so much and proves to me and other supporters that the club cares. We have been backed to the hilt and the club is so supportive. The club were represented at events like MardiGla, other marches in Glasgow and support the Rangers Laces campaign.
“You could see in all the interviews with the people involved in the campaign are all genuine Rangers fans I thought that was important too. There were no gimmicks or actors – it is all Rangers supporters and you could see their love for the club during the interviews for Rangers TV.
“Everyone had a different story and we were all brought together by our love for Rangers.
“I really love that aspect for the campaign. I have been a Rangers fan all my life and my parents met on a supporter’s bus.
“My dad is from Wales and he moved up here a number of years ago and Rangers became his team. My grandfather on my mum’s side was a Rangers fan and my mum was a Rangers fan.
“So growing up my two older sisters and I were all Rangers fan.
“We would go to games to together, even after my mum and dad separated.
“My mum has now unfortunately passed away but Rangers has been ingrained in me most of my life.
“There has never been another club for me and there never will be. I can’t ever imagine not being a Rangers fan.
“Growing up my favourite player was Rod Wallace and I have great memories of Rangers beating PSG on penalties.
“And it has been great this season seeing where Steven Gerrard is taking this Rangers team.
“When you think of where we were a few years ago and where we are now – beating teams like Porto at Ibrox in Europe – it is a pleasure just watching.
“It is such a lovely feeling seeing how far we have come and it is difficult to put into words just how good it feels.
“We have travelled to the smaller grounds from 2012 onwards but the fans still showed great support for the club. We just love Rangers regardless of what league we are in.
“When I went to the launch the staff were so lovely and welcoming and it really is a pleasure to be involved in this campaign.
“There is no place for bigotry, sectarianism or homophobia and it is embarrassing when the club gets penalised for the actions of a few who sing certain songs.
“So I totally supported Rangers when they took the bold move not to take tickets for the away game against Young Boys in Europe.
“It shows the club is taking the right stand and I know they will keep working hard to promote tolerance, inclusion and diversity.”
