The 31-year-old has had to bide her time since joining the club in the summer, but her well-taken strike in today’s 6-2 win away to Hibernian set Rangers on their way to the last four of the Scottish Cup.
Speaking to RangersTV after the triumph in the capital, Ewens said: “It’s been difficult for me with the injuries that I’ve had.
“The strikers are doing so well upfront, and it’s been hard to get myself back in the team.
“For me, it’s about consistency now, and pushing on; getting minutes in the past couple of weeks has been good for me. Hopefully, I can take confidence from today.
“They very nearly scored just before, so [my goal] was a big moment in getting the momentum back.
“Nic [Docherty] has asked if she’s getting credited with the assist, and I was like ‘I suppose you are!’.
“But seriously, I thought it was a good ball through, then Rio [Hardy] has done well just to hold up play and it came through to me.”
Jo Potter’s side were twice pegged back by the hosts in the first half, before they emerged for the second period with a renewed intent.
The triumph extends the side’s unbeaten run in all competitions this season, with the attention now shifting towards next weekend’s Old Firm clash in SWPL action.
Ewens added: “We were disappointed in ourselves in the first half, and it was definitely not the performance that we know we can put in.
“But we were a lot better coming out for the second half, more in our style, and I thought we deserved the win.
“They went toe-to-toe with us and made it really difficult. We knew we were in a battle and, overall, we deservedly came out on top and took our chances really well in the second half.
“The semi-final? It’s something that we’re all looking forward to. I’ve always wanted to go to Hampden and play in these big games, it’s what you play the game for.
“But, and I’m trying not to be cliched, we have some big games coming up before that so we just have to focus on the next game first.”
