Rangers held its latest Fan Advisory Board (FAB) meeting at Ibrox, bringing together supporter representatives and senior club staff to discuss a range of issues across the club.
The FAB gives supporters a direct route to raise questions, share feedback and discuss important matters with the club. FAB members also contribute to club-led working groups that examine areas including ticketing, MyGers, heritage and European away matches in greater detail.
At the latest meeting, Chief Executive Jim Gillespie gave an update on his review of the club, the new leadership structure and the work being done to make Rangers a more focused and effective organisation.
The group also discussed the appointment of Derek McInnes, plans for the men’s first-team squad and the club’s approach to recruitment. The club explained that leadership, character, mentality and an understanding of Scottish football are all important parts of that work.
Connal Cochrane from the Rangers Charity Foundation joined the meeting to talk through the Foundation’s work and its plans for the years ahead.
There was a positive discussion about how the FAB and supporters can help promote the Foundation’s work, support fundraising and give more people from schools and community groups the chance to attend matches at Ibrox. A separate meeting will now take place to look at those ideas in more detail.
The FAB also shared supporter feedback on Castore and Umbro, covering kit design, quality, pricing, sizing, stock levels and the wider merchandise range.
The club confirmed that these issues have been raised directly with the supplier. Plans are also being made for the FAB to meet Castore and put that feedback to them directly.
The meeting also covered the Scottish FA’s independent review into the events of 8 March. The club explained the lessons it accepts, the areas of the report it continues to challenge and the work under way to improve planning and operations for future fixtures.
Other topics included refereeing standards, supporter sanctions and the Scottish Government’s consultation on football banning orders.
