The Light Blues head to Belgium for the resumption of European competition – with this being the second year in succession Gers have progressed to the knockout stages of the tournament.
Speaking at this afternoon’s press conference, Helander explained: "We are in a good place. The results we have had so far have been good and the confidence in the team is great.
"So obviously, that is a good start, but we know we have to perform at a very high level again to get us to where we want to be.
"We are always looking to improve. Of course, when you play good teams, you have to perform at a high level as a bad game puts you out of the tournament.
"We have to get up to that level in every game. I think we have been training very well in the last few weeks, and we want to take that into the game and remember what we have done in the last games in Europe."
Sweden international Helander was also asked if he expected Rangers to head to Belgium and try to dominate the game, or keep it tight ahead of the second leg at Ibrox next Thursday night.
A positive Helander explained, however: "We are a good team and we believe in ourselves. We hope to have a lot of the ball and play as we normally do.
"Then, in a football game, you will always see where the game ends up. There is an opponent as well who wants to play good football, so it is going to be an even game I think.
"Hopefully we will be the better side."
