FINDLAY CURTIS admits it was a dream come true to notch his first senior goal at Ibrox.
The 19-year-old netted late on as the Light Blues came back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Club Brugge in the first pre-season friendly clash of the season.
The playmaker collected Nedim Bajrami’s pass and coolly slotted it past the keeper in Head Coach Russell Martin’s first match in charge.
The youngster was delighted to open his account for the campaign and says he hopes to cement his place in the squad this term.
Speaking to RangersTV, he said: “I am speechless, I am buzzing and I was glad to see it go into the back of the net.
“I expected the pass from Nedim as we have been working on that all week in training but I was buzzing.
“I have to thank everyone for helping me get to this point and now I have to keep working hard.
“This season I want to start as many games as I can and I want to do well.”
Martin has already had chats with the youngster about what he expects from him this season.
Fellow academy hopefuls Zander Hutton and Josh Gentles climbed off the bench to make their Ibrox bow against the Belgian side.
Curtis says Martin didn’t hold back at half-time with his side 2-0 down, but he is enjoying working under the former Gers defender.
He added: “We started sloppy but at half-time the gaffer had a bit of a go at us, but I thought in the second half we did very well.
“Since last season I had to get my fitness up as the gaffer wants that energy in the team.
“The gaffer has told me to do what I do. He has watched previous games and he thought I did well.
“They have been working hard in training so they deserved that moment and I thought they did very well.”
