Fourteen Rangers Players Called Up For International Duty

RANGERS will have 14 players representing their countries on international duty over the next week.

Here’s a look at who is away and what fixtures are on the schedule:

John Souttar, Liam Kelly and Findlay Curtis – Scotland

  • Scotland v Japan – International Friendly – Saturday, March 28 - Kick-off 5pm

  • Scotland v Ivory Coast – International Friendly – Tuesday, March 31 – Kick-off 7:30pm

Three Rangers players will be present in Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad as preparations continue for this summer’s World Cup finals with a pair of friendly matches over the break.

Defender John Souttar and goalkeeper Liam Kelly are present once again, while there was a special moment for winger Findlay Curtis recently, who received his first senior call-up last week after impressing during his current loan spell with Kilmarnock.

The Gers are the most-represented club in the squad as they entertain Japan at Barclays Hampden this Saturday evening, before travelling south to take on Ivory Coast at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Nico Raskin – Belgium

  • USA v Belgium – International Friendly – Saturday, March 28 – Kick-off 7:30pm

  • Mexico v Belgium – International Friendly – Wednesday, April 1 – Kick-off 2am

With qualification to this summer’s World Cup already secured, Nico and Belgium face a pair of friendly tune-ups on U.S soil.

Indeed, USA are up first in Atlanta, before the side make the trip north to face Mexico at Soldier Field, home of the Chicago Bears.

Alongside Nico in the Belgian midfield selection is Kevin De Bruyne, Amadou Onana and Youri Tielemans, among others.

Emmanuel Fernandez – Nigeria

  • Iran v Nigeria – International Friendly – Friday, 27 March – Kick-off 1pm

  • Jordan v Nigeria – International Friendly – Tuesday, 31 March – Kick-off 1pm

Emmanuel will experience international football for the first time in his career this break having switched allegiance recently to represent Nigeria.

Rewarded for his fine form for the Gers this season, he will be hoping to bring that to the national stage as they contest two friendlies having missed out on the World Cup at the hands of DR Congo.

   

   

Nasser Djiga – Burkina Faso

  • Burkina Faso v Guinea-Bissau – International Friendly – Saturday, March 28 – Kick-off 4pm

  • Burkina Faso v Guinea-Bissau – International Friendly – Tuesday, March 31 – Kick-off 4pm

The man on loan from Wolves will also be on international duty this break as he joins up with Burkina Faso once again.

He was part of their African Cup of Nations squad earlier this year, but he will be hoping for further gametime having started the last three matches for the Gers in all competitions before jetting off.

Oliver Antman – Finland

  • New Zealand v Finland – International Friendly – Friday, March 27 – Kick-off 6am

  • Finland v Cape Verde – International Friendly – Monday, March 30 – Kick-off 4am

Oliver is among a 23-man Finnish squad who will travel to New Zealand to compete in the FIFA Series 2026.

Both games will be played at Eden Park in Auckland, with the side squaring off against the hosts before going toe-to-toe with Cape Verde three days later.

The winger, who joined from Go Ahead Eagles last summer, was a second half substitute against Aberdeen at the weekend and was on the scoresheet for his country against Andorra in the November set of international fixtures.

Bojan Miovski – North Macedonia

  • Denmark v North Macedonia – World Cup Play-Off Semi-Final – Thursday, March 26 – Kick-off 7:45pm

Bojan and North Macedonia will bid to reach the World Cup this summer.

Denmark are first up for the side in Copenhagen this Thursday evening, with a winner-takes-all showdown with the Republic of Ireland or Czech Republic lying in wait next Tuesday.

The country reached their first major international tournament back at the 2020 European Championships and will be aiming to make history once again.

Nedim Bajrami – Albania

  • Poland v Albania – World Cup Play-Off Semi-Final – Thursday, March 26 – Kick-off 7:45pm

Another who will hope to help lead his nation to the World Cup finals, Nedim will join up with Albania as they contest the play-offs this break.

Poland are the team to get past to book their place in the showdown final, as they aim to reach the tournament for the first time in the nation’s history with their previous most prestigious event competing in the European Championships ten years ago.

  

  

Djeidi Gassama – Mauritania

  • Argentina v Mauritania – International Friendly – Friday, March 27 – Kick-off 11:15pm

After a cameo appearance against Aberdeen on Saturday evening, Gassama has been called into the Mauritania senior squad for the first time.

The winger has represented France at youth level and will now seek to impress in a friendly clash against a star-studded Argentina outfit in Buenos Aires.

Youssef Chermiti – Portugal Under-21s

  • Azerbaijan Under-21s v Portugal Under-21s – European Championships Qualifiers – Friday, March 27 – Kick-off 11am

  • Portugal Under-21s v Scotland Under-21s – European Championships Qualifiers – Tuesday, March 31 – Kick-off 7:30pm

Fresh off being named SPFL Player of the Month for February, Youssef will link up with Portugal Under-21s once again this month.

The side sit in a strong position in their quest to secure qualification to the European Championships next year having won four out of their five games thus far.

They will square off against Azerbaijan first up before hosting Scotland in Estoril.

Jayden Meghoma – England Under-20s

  • Italy Under-20s v England Under-20s – International Friendly – Friday, March 27 – Kick-off 3:30pm

Jayden has been selected for the England Under-20s squad as they make the trip to face Italy in Rome.

It is a reverse fixture of the game in Chesterfield between the two sides last September which ended in a 2-1 win for Italy.

On loan from Brentford, the full-back has made 40 appearances in Rangers colours this season and has been a consistent performer.

  

Derek Cornelius – Canada

  • Canada v Iceland – International Friendly – Saturday, March 28 – Kick-off 5pm

  • Canada v Tunisia – International Friendly – Wednesday, April 1 – Kick-off 12:30am

Derek has joined up with Canada as they continue their preparations to co-host the tournament alongside the USA and Mexico this summer.

The defender has endured a long time out with injury and most recently made his return to training. He’ll be looking for some much-needed gametime in their pair of friendly matches against Iceland and Tunisia respectively.

Rabbi Matondo – Wales

Wales v Bosnia & Herzegovina – World Cup Play-Off Semi-Final – Thursday, March 26 - Kick-off 7:45pm

Rabbi will join up with the Wales squad this March break as they aim to book their place in the World Cup finals via the play-offs.

The winger hasn’t started a game for the Gers this season but will be on duty as Bosnia & Herzegovina stand in their way of a play-off final berth as they aim to reach the tournament for the second time in succession having competed in Qatar back in the winter of 2022.
