Fraser replaces Patrick Stewart, who previously represented the club on the Board prior to him departing the club last year.
Rangers continues to play an active role in domestic and European football, with members of the club’s executive team involved in key committees and advisory groups to ensure the club’s voice, and the views of its supporters, are part of wider discussions.
Speaking upon his appointment, Fraser Thornton commented: “I’m pleased to have been elected to the SPFL Board and I understand the responsibility that comes with that.
“A strong, well-run SPFL is in everyone’s interests, and I’m looking forward to working constructively with fellow board members and the team at the SPFL to help ensure the league continues to evolve and thrive.”
Fraser is currently serving as Chief Executive Officer at Rangers. He will become an Executive Director when Jim Gillespie assumes the role of Chief Executive Officer later in the campaign and will remain on the SPFL Board for this term.
The SPFL Board for the 2025/26 season includes SPFL Chief Executive Neil Doncaster, Chairman Murdoch MacLennan, and Independent Non-Executive Director Karyn McCluskey.
Fraser joins fellow Premiership representatives Malcolm McPherson of Hibernian and Phyllis Carroll of Kilmarnock. The Championship is represented by Willie Houston of Ayr United and David Cook of Dunfermline Athletic.
League One and League Two are represented by Andrew Allan of Alloa Athletic, with Iain Dougan of Stranraer serving as Alternate Director.
