The Light Blues edged in front in the contest when Cole McKinnon converted from a Bailey Rice free-kick, but David McCallum’s side were pegged back before the interval when the Terriers netted twice.
The home side stretched their advantage further in the second period, although Rangers had ample opportunities to draw the game level.
Speaking to RangersTV after the match, the 20-year-old bemoaned his side’s lack of conviction: “We really weren’t ruthless today. We speak about it a lot, and we had plenty of clear-cut chances.
“Their goalkeeper made a good few saves, but we had more than enough opportunities to go and kill the game, and the scoreline looks bad as a result.
“We had moments where we did do well and played our game, but the four goals that we conceded, albeit one was a wonder free-kick, were really poor.
“I felt as if we were on top during the game and that we had over double the number of chances that they had, which is the most disappointing aspect.”
The timing of the Huddersfield goals is sure to have disappointed the Gers squad, with the hosts adding to their lead less than 60 seconds into the second half.
That followed their go-ahead goal just four minutes shy of the interval, where they latched onto a loose passage of play in the Light Blues defensive third and found the finish.
Fraser continued: “It was a great start in the first ten minutes. We got the goal and we were on top, but I don’t know what happened when they scored the free-kick; something just seemed to change and they were coming on top of us.
“To then lose the second goal right before half-time was a sore one to take, and again straight after half-time. We need to come out of our shell at that moment and really stand up.
“Those are the key moments, either side of half-time, where we need to keep it tight and try to get to half-time.
“We need to be more aggressive as a team, on the front foot and press. I felt that we were the better footballing side, but they were ruthless at times in the games.”
