The Light Blues will take on Alashkert with a 1-0 advantage in tow as they look to secure passage to the group stages of the competition for a fourth consecutive season.
The tournament has been a fantastic one for Gers, and assistant manager, Gary McAllister, who tonight addressed the media via Zoom from the team hotel in the Armenian capital knows for so many reasons how important progression is.
He explained: "For the club it is massive, but for the players, it is another chance to go on a journey which I am sure all of the players have really enjoyed.
"It is something I have absolutely loved since coming back to Glasgow as for me, the European nights under the floodlights at Ibrox are second to none and we want more of that and that is the carrot which is dangling for our players - that is the incentive."
Gers will, as has been widely reported, be without a number of well-known figures for the match, but McAllister reckons the experience in the group and the leaders in the pack can come to the fore in a situation like this.
He continued: "There is a word that we have used quite a lot recently, and that is the word 'together' - and it is that senior group of players who have got good experience.
"All players over their footballing career gather bad experiences, but our guys have good experience so we need them all to come to the fore - this is a time where we have really come in close and be really tight-knit and get the correct results."
Manager Steven Gerrard has also not made the trip to Yerevan – but he will remain in regular contact with McAllister and Michael Beale at regular intervals while Gers are in Armenia.
McAllister added: "The messaging will remain the same and all the presentations will remain the same. He will be joining us through conversations like we are having here, so all of his messaging will definitely get over to the players.
"Michael Beale is here for all the coaching aspects and tactical awareness for the players to be taking on-board prior to the game, and it will be reinforced by myself and then the manager will probably speak prior to the game as well.
"So we are in constant contact with Steven - we are the lucky ones that are here that can affect the result, and we have got to try and get a result for the guys back in the UK."
