DJEIDI GASSAMA has described new Rangers Head Coach, Danny Röhl, as a father figure and believes the German will bring out the best in the squad.
The 22-year-old winger, who joined Rangers in the summer, worked under Röhl at Sheffield Wednesday where he developed into one of the most sought-after players in the division.
He has netted five times already in a Rangers jersey and believes the squad will benefit from Röhl's beliefs and style of play.
Speaking to the official Rangers website following the German's arrival, he said of his time developing under the new Gers Head Coach in England: “It was good. He is like a father to me. He helped me a lot.
"When I was at Sheffield Wednesday, I worked with him for 18 months and he gave me a lot of advice, and especially last season I had a good year because of him.
“He taught me how to play my position on the pitch. He loves players to fight for the team and there were a lot of other things - even off the park he helped me a lot to settle in.
“He was good for me. He is a good manager with a lot of good ideas and I think he will help us to win games. It is good for us to have him here.
“How was training? It was hard, but that is normal with him. He likes his teams to work hard and you have to do it every day.
"It isn’t just on the park; he wants you working hard off the park. Even the warm-up was hard.
“I am very excited to work with him again. I think at Rangers we have a lot of talented players and I think the gaffer will help us win games. I think everyone is excited and looking forward to it.”
Röhl will dive straight into the action as the Gers travel to face SK Brann in UEFA Europa League League Phase action tomorrow evening.
Gassama believes there is no better place to start and has preached the importance of stringing together victories in their bid to ignite their campaign.
He added: “European games are great and it is the first for the manager and we want to win the first game for him.
"I have enjoyed playing in Europe. We haven’t won the games but I have enjoyed the challenge.
“We want to get off to a good start to try to build some consistency. We have to go with the mindset to win the game in Norway.
“We need to fight together to win together. We want to win and that’s what we have to do.”
