The half volley, which came on the stroke of half-time to draw the Gers level with Hibernian, was significant for both the 22-year-old personally and his team.
The centre-half’s goal pulled the Light Blues back into the game after Hibs scored from a free-kick Edmundson conceded.
He told RangersTV: “My goal was good, I gave away the free-kick for their goal so I felt like I needed to redeem myself and obviously I have scored so it has gone well.
“It was good to play, I thought I did alright and hopefully I can get selected for the next game – we will prepare for that and see what happens.”
Rangers win put them back within touching distance at the top of the Premiership, with a game in hand against St Johnstone, still to be scheduled.
It was also a return to some of Steven Gerrard’s side’s best free flowing, attacking football and Edmundson believes the performance can provide a boost going into the weekend’s Scottish Cup fifth round.
He continued: “I would say the first-half performance wasn’t too bad but then I felt like when we came out for the second-half it went up a gear and we performed a lot better and back to where we normally are.
“It will be a tough game again on Saturday so we will prepare properly and hopefully we can get the win.”
