John Hughes’ side make the trip south to Govan off the back of an impressive 4-1 defeat of Aberdeen in Dingwall last Saturday and Gerrard and his men will have eyes only for the challenge they will bring.
He told today’s press conference: “It is a very tough job protecting not only the group, but everyone who is representing the club at the moment from the scrutiny and the noise.
“We are living in a world with a lot of coverage – social media, podcasts, TV – around the world, everyone is interested in Rangers and how it is going.
“It is impossible to protect from everything, but my job is to try and put layers around the group and keep them in the ‘now’ and really keep them focused on our narrative and what is going on at Rangers.
“We don’t look elsewhere at what is going on at other places – we have a job to do here and there is still a lot of points to play for, we are still in Europe and we still have the Scottish Cup to go.
“There are a lot of challenges, a lot of big targets and a lot of narratives that we need to stay in the now and focus on.
“It doesn’t make sense to get side-tracked, become complacent and forget our blindspots. Nothing changes – it has worked so-far extremely well worrying about the next game and the next challenge, and that is what we will continue to do. “
Since Gers last faced County in December, they have changed manager with Hughes coming in to replace Stuart Kettlewell.
On that change in the dugout, Gerrard continued: “John has a real, big knowledge, especially up here in Scotland. He knows his players, he is a manager that likes to play football and he has certainly gone into Ross County and made a difference.
“It was a fantastic result against Aberdeen which sent shockwaves through the league, if you like. They also had a big win away at Hibs not too long ago as well.
“This is a team which is very capable on their day. They have had mixed results of late and I know they are in a position in the league where they will be trying to improve on that.
“I am sure John will be doing everything from his side to push that. This is a challenge we very much respect tomorrow at Ibrox, but the focus and the preparation has been mainly on ourselves trying to be the best version of us, trying to focus on where we went right and wrong last week and trying to put that right over the course of 90 minutes, and we are looking to try and put in a strong home performance and take maximum points.”
