The Light Blues gaffer has been thrilled with the start his side have made to the season – a start which began with victory over the Dons at Pittodrie on opening day.
Speaking to this morning’s press conference, Gerrard explained: "Again, it will be another tough challenge. The rivalry speaks for itself and it is a big game and both teams are in good form and it is a game we are really looking forward to.
"I think it will be a different challenge to the one on the opening day with both teams looking different in-terms of personnel.
"So it is mouthwatering and one we are very much looking forward to."
"I think they will come to Ibrox with confidence. They are on a good run of form, obviously the cup game against Celtic aside.
"I think they have reacted from the defeat on the first day of the season against us and really gone on a strong run.
"In terms of what we are going to face, we think it will be really similar to previous encounters - they will be organised, they will be well-drilled, they will be physical and they will carry a goal threat.
"It is a big game and a big challenge for us, but we can't be going into it in a better place ourselves. For me, the focus is always what shape are we in, in-terms of Rangers, and we couldn't be in a better place to face this challenge."
The game comes off the back of the two week international break, with Gerrard reporting almost a clean bill of health for all those players returning.
The manager continued: "We are still assessing certain individuals. It is a first day back for some players today and I haven't seen all of them as of yet.
"We are still waiting on a couple this afternoon as well. From what we have heard on the telephone is the majority are fine - [Bongani] Zungu has a bit of a knock we are assessing in his knee, and besides that, everyone else is in relatively good shape."
The break, of course, saw Scotland qualify for next summer’s Euros, with Ryan Jack a key component to that success in the middle of the park.
Gerrard was delighted for his man and added: "I think it was no surprise to see him play so well. I think Ryan has been very consistent since we came in here at Rangers.
"I'm really pleased for him. I was really proud of his performance and it was great to see, being up here and being really involved in Scottish football, to see the country back in a major tournament.
"It was fantastic to watch with the celebrations and I want to congratulate Steve [Clarke] and his staff and all the players involved as it was a magnificent achievement."
