Not since the Light Blues took on Bayer Leverkusen on March 12 have they run out here in Govan, and tonight, the manager has named a strong side for the latest test in the build-up to the season starting against Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Saturday week.
It’s two changes from the side which took on and defeated Nice at Trophee Veolia on Saturday, with Jon McLaughlin getting another chance in goals in place of Allan McGregor, while Alfredo Morelos starts up-top instead of Jermain Defoe.
That means the Gers line up with McLaughlin in-goal, James Tavernier, George Edmundson, Connor Goldson, Ianis Hagi, Ryan Jack, Ryan Kent, Joe Aribo, Glen Kamara, Alfredo Morelos and Borna Barisic in the XI.
Gerrard again has a number options from the bench – tonight they are Andy Firth, Calvin Bassey, Jermain Defoe, Steven Davis, Jamie Murphy, Brandon Barker, Jamie Barjonas, Scott Arfield and Academy man James Maxwell.
