Gers have worked hard for over five weeks now, but were restricted to working socially-distant for the first part before they were allowed into full-contact sessions.
There also wasn’t the usual raft of European qualifiers to fit-in, albeit Gers did manage to secure some fantastic friendly matches at Trophee Veolia against Lyon and Nice.
The manager also took time to thank the Rangers support for the way they have got behind the team from home – with the message being to keep that up for as long as the advice makes that necessary.
Speaking to RangersTV this week, boss Gerrard explained: "It has been unique and it has been challenging - on and off the pitch. But, I must say a massive 'Thank You' to the players and the staff for staying focused and doing everything I have asked of them.
"It has obviously been very positive in-terms of performances and in-terms of preparation. We have still got a few days to lead-in to Aberdeen where we can finish that preparation off, and it is important that we try to hit the ground running.
"That remains the same while the rules are in place - they watch us from home and stay safe.
"I have got confidence in the players in-terms of their physical capabilities. They are a fit bunch who have worked ever-so hard, but until you go into the season, you don't really know and you can't really judge it as it is different when it is for real.
"But, I do have confidence in the players' physical and mental state right now."
As well as their fitness, Gerrard has been delighted with the technical and tactical development over the last period, and continued: "I think that is the idea of having the pre-season games - to rehearse what you are going to be facing during the season.
"It's the reasons why we had the different types of games. We played Hamilton, Motherwell and Coventry to get a feel for domestic-type games that we could be facing, and we went to Lyon because that gives us a good idea from a European perspective as well.
"So we are happy with the pre-season, but you don't get anything for a positive and successful pre-season - we know going in for real is when it really counts."
The manager was also pleased to welcome Leon Balagon into his squad this week following his switch from Wigan – and even in his first few dealings, he has been mightily impressed by what he brings to the club.

The manager added: "He was very comfortable in [his first session]. It will take him a few days to settle-in and get used to the players.
"We also want to use this time, even away from the training ground, to show him what we do tactically in and out of possession as well, so the next few days are going to be vital in-terms of his settling-in period.
"But his profile suits how we want to play as he is quick, he is tall, he is lean and he is in fantastic shape.
"From a technical point of view, we know he has played at a level - we have seen him at a level, we have judged him at that level and it gives us confidence he is going to be a real, good signing for us."
