The Light Blues jet out to the Czech capital this afternoon to face a side sitting comfortably atop their national league, and who defeated Premier League Leicester City in the last round.
The Ibrox manager knows his men must be at their optimum, and told today’s press conference: "We will tell the players they need to be ready and they need to be at their very best to complete this challenge as Slavia are a very good team and a very efficient team who are really strong, powerful, can run a lot and can also play from a technical point of view.
"So we are well aware of the size of this challenge and we have to be at our very best to complete it."
Gerrard has Kemar Roofe available to him in the Czech Republic – while he also gave an update on Ryan Jack and James Tavernier.
He explained: "Kemar trained this morning so he will be back in the group and will travel with us over to the Czech Republic and he is available.
"Jacko, if I wanted him to be ready, he could be, but I have decided to just hold back on him so he will be available for the second leg and I don't think it is right to push Ryan as Ryan has had a bit of a different injury this time.
"Last time, we probably pushed him a little bit too quick, so I have decided rather than the medical team to just hold fire on that - a difficult decision but I think it is the right one in the big picture.
"Obviously James is going to be a little bit slower."
The manager took time to reflect on the last few says, with Rangers having clinched 55 on Sunday afternoon.
He explained: "The size of the achievement and the emotions that came with that, I think the players deserved to celebrate and they have worked ever-so hard during this journey and sacrificed a lot and put a tremendous amount of effort into getting this done and getting it over the line.
"We also, as a group, have had some criticism along the way and we have been down at times along the way as well, so when you finally get this over the line, the feeling is difficult to describe.
"But now we are back in the routine - I spoke to the players yesterday at length and we had a session where we got the legs moving again.
"They have had a chance to get some rest and it is actually a good thing that we're going away now as we can monitor all the food and the hydration levels and get them ready to fire once the kick-off comes.
"But it has just been an incredible few days and it is obviously difficult to describe in an interview."
But despite the celebrations and the euphoria, the focus is now very much on Prague and the challenges to come beyond.
Gerrard continued: "Externally, you know me well-enough now that the mantra will always be the next game and the next challenge.
"But, we want to add to what we have already achieved. We have got internal targets and we know how we want the rest of the season to look.
"We have got two incredible fixtures on the horizon in-terms of the Europa League and we want to go further than we did last year and build on what we have already achieved in Europe this season which has been fantastic.
"And then, obviously, we have got a huge Old Firm game to look forward to and then the Scottish Cup begins and then the split games, so there are so many exciting games and challenges internally that we want to go and try to achieve and that is the way it is at Rangers.
"It's not about resting on your laurels and downing tools because you have achieved something so big, it is about going to try and add to that now and making sure the season is even more successful than it is where we are sitting right now.
"I think the weekend gave us that feel for success and that hunger. If I know these players as well as I think I know them, they will want more.
"They will want to go and build on what we have achieved - we have spoken about it and discussed it at length yesterday, and it will be really interesting to see what level of performance we can find.
"They trained well yesterday, they were in the zone and they were focused. We have done another session today in preparation and gameplan ready for tomorrow and it is a game we are all looking forward to."
