Again, the Light Blues looked fit, sharp, and produced an impressive performance, as they did against Lyon on Thursday, meaning Gers have won this inaugural competition and will fly back to Glasgow tonight with the trophy.
Speaking to RangersTV at the Groupama Stadium, boss Gerrard explained: "It's been a successful trip - not necessarily because we've won the competition, that wasn't the important thing, but we have come here for fitness reasons, we have come here to get ourselves in better condition, and we have come here to rehearse how we want to play and how we want it to look.
"So there are an awful lot of positives to take in terms of the team and where the squad is at - we still need to get better and there will be things we need to tweak all over the place - individuals still need to get fitter, but in the main, I am really pleased and I am going to go away happy.

"Lyon and Nice are no mugs - they are Champions League-level teams and littered with footballers that are worth an awful lot of money - and rightly so as they have got good players.
"Patrick is a fantastic coach with a lot of experience, so I am very pleased for the staff and the players so we can go away happy, but we still have two weeks to really push and turn the screw and turn the heat up in-terms of our preparation."
Rangers were hugely impressive in their ball-winning and pressing game tonight, with Gerrard continuing: "That is a major part of our game. Out of possession, I want my team to be difficult to play against and I want us to be nasty in a nice way all over the pitch and I want us to be tough to play against.
"We asked the players to own both pitches and we have done over the course of the two games. We have been outstanding out of possession - everyone has rolled their sleeves up.
"Normally when you watch certain teams, a few people think they are superstars within the team - we have no ego in our team, everyone rolls their sleeves up and does their work which is great to see."
Gerrard was thrilled to see Academy graduate Jamie Barjonas net late-on to set the seal on victory, and he added: "I am really pleased for Jamie, I think this is the first time since I have been in a first-team game he has really shown personality - we know he has got that, and we think he is better than what he has been showing.

"So he will stay round us for a bit longer and we will try to give him a few more opportunities. "In terms of the Academy, I want to bring Academy players in, but first and foremost, they have got to commit to the football club.
"If you don't commit to the football club, you won't be seen anywhere near me, and they have got to be good enough so they have got to train every day like it means the world to them to play for Rangers.
"I have been hearing a few things down at the Academy that there has been a bit of ego about, so they won't be around me.
"So they have deserved the opportunities they have had and I am pleased for them."
