Gers meet Saints for the second time in a week, with a much-changed Light Blues side drawing 1-1 with them on Wednesday night.
That came after reaching this stage of the competition by defeating Celtic last Sunday, and Gerrard wants his men to find something like that performance again against Callum Davidson’s side.
Gerrard, speaking to RangersTV, said: "I think what you saw was a team and a group of individuals who really turned the dial up. We got some decent results prior to the Old Firm, but I think against Celtic, I think in the days leading into the game you really saw a difference - they all turned the dial to maximum.
"That performance was really strong and I don't think we were at our top in-terms of being at our best, but the performance was very good to beat Celtic 2-0 with a clean sheet, which was a real good result for us.
"What we need to do now is turn it up again and hopefully St Johnstone will see us close to our best again and if we do, we shouldn't have any issues."
Gerrard was again strong in his belief that Sunday’s meeting is more important than the one on Wednesday.
Reflecting on events in Perth, he explained: "We remain unbeaten and I am sure that is a positive for everyone. It's unfortunate that we didn't see the game out and if we had a 1-0 win we would have been speaking about another win and a clean sheet.
"So it was a little bit frustrating how the game finished, but, the game was almost in the way - from my point of view, my focus and my priority was the second St Johnstone game and that is the reason why I made so many changes and the reason why I made some substitutions that I did.
"It is the reason why I left some people out and off the pitch, so all-in-all, the run goes on in-terms of being unbeaten which is a big positive, and it will become a big positive when we play Celtic, but sandwiched in the middle of the two league games is a huge cup tie, and that is the priority.
"The idea here is to try and win a double - it is one game at a time and we didn't want to give too much away in-terms of what we are going to try and do at the weekend in the first St Johnstone game.
"So that is the reason why it probably looked a little bit different. We have come through with a lot of fresh legs and a lot of people who are fit and available for the game, so I am in a good place and I am content with the result."
One of the biggest positives from Perth was the return of captain James Tavernier to action, the captain having been out injured for two months.
"He has come through fine,” Gerrard revealed. “He had a bit of tightness and a few ‘dongs’ - what we call them - which take a couple of days to go away.
"So he was really stiff and he has come through fine and there is no issue with the knee injury which is a big boost for him, for us and for the team.
"The 60 minutes will do him the world of good moving forward. It is about pushing him now in training and I am sure he is really looking forward to a quarter-final because it is another opportunity for him to push his team into the next round.
"To have him back, available, fit and smiling is a big boost for me."
Gerrard also gave his thoughts on the quarter-final, and what to expect from St Johnstone this time around.
He added: "It is difficult to predict - we know they have a decent manager and had a successful season so far winning the cup and finishing in the top six.
"They are a very 'game' team - they are physical and they have a real, interesting style with how they play.
"But I can't predict if they are going to try something different or what personnel they will use on the day.
"My priority will be Rangers. We will look different and I am looking forward to seeing how we play. We will be fresh, we will be full of energy, all of our big players are available and we didn't give anything away in the first game so I am really looking forward to our game plan and our tactical side of it.
"Hopefully the outcome of this game is a lot different."
