RANGERS are delighted to announce the signing of Kirsty Howat from Glasgow City on pre-contract agreement.

RANGERS are delighted to announce the signing of Kirsty Howat from Glasgow City on pre-contract agreement.

Kirsty Howat will join Rangers in 2021 from Glasgow City having signed a pre-contract agreement with the club.  Kirsty was top goalscorer in the SWPL1 last year with a fantastic 24 goals.

The 23 year-old attacker will add firepower to the Gers attack and joins having played in the UEFA Women’s Champions League and also represented her country at various youth levels. 

Head Coach, Malcolm Thomson, commented on Kirsty Howat: “This is a significant moment for us as we manage to secure the league’s top scorer which will add terrific firepower to our already excellent front line.   

“Kirsty is a top player with a very bright future and we believe the high-performance environment we have now at Rangers, which is unique in Scotland, will allow her to develop even further. With the likes of Zoe Ness, Brogan Hay and Megan Bell already at the club Kirsty will add to the competition for places and ensure we drive standards every day.  It is particularly pleasing that we have been able to continue our transfer business throughout the uncertainty of lockdown. 

“We continue to progress our preparations for the return of women’s football at Rangers. Signings like Kirsty build the excitement and anticipation further and we can’t wait to work with her.”

Women’s and Girl’s Football Manager, Amy McDonald commented: “We are looking forward to welcoming Kirsty to the club when her contract ends with Glasgow City.

“It is hugely pleasing that we have managed to secure the services of another player who will bolster our options in attack. This further compounds our desire to be a success within Scotland and Europe.
