Originally set up in 2007, the Rangers Supporters’ Erskine Appeal has funded and aided numerous different projects for former servicemen and women, and their families, across Scotland.
Indeed, Erskine care for nearly 1000 veterans every year of all ages at their four care homes, a veteran’s village and run an outdoor activity centre.
The work of the RSEA has continued through the Covid-19 pandemic, and their efforts in the last year ensured 339 care home residents received a Christmas present.
They have also helped in the purchase of lifting aids, an assisted bath, the refurbishment of the physiotherapy department and the purchase of a hybrid vehicle over the years – all possible through RSEA fundraising and the backing of Rangers supporters.
Rangers’ Managing Director, Stewart Robertson, commented: “On behalf of the club, I would like to offer my warm congratulations to the Rangers Supporters’ Erskine Appeal on reaching this incredible milestone.
“To hit such a fantastic figure is testament to the hard work that has been put in since 2007 by the fundraisers, and once again, we have seen the generosity of the club’s supporters come to the fore.
“Erskine is a charity which is so close to many of our hearts given the connection between Rangers and our armed services, and I have been delighted to hear of the way in which these funds have been utilised to support those who have given incredible sacrifices for our country over the years.
“I would like to wish the RSEA well as they embark on their forthcoming fundraising activities.”
