Steven Davis missed Sunday’s League Cup final, while Filip Helander had to go off injured in the same match.
He told today’s press conference: “He won’t be available for tomorrow. He has had a scan on a foot issue, and we are still waiting for feedback so it has gone off to certain people for expert feedback. He will certainly be missing in the short-term but I will know for sure the exact extent of the injury probably by the end of the game tomorrow.
The manager was also quizzed on speculation in the press surrounding new deals for Davis, Allan McGregor, Jermain Defoe and himself.
He continued: “Allan McGregor and Steven Davis are imminent – they are very close and I think it will probably be announced after tomorrow’s game.
“Jermain’s is obviously a bit different as he is Bournemouth’s player until the end of the season, but is a similar situation in the fact that we want him to stay around.
“So we will deal with that as and when we need to.
“I want to stay around and I am happy here. I am as hungry and determined to get the good days back here as I ever was, so talks have been pretty straightforward and positive.
“When it is signed and announced, you will have to wait and see – I don’t want any focus on myself or these players before tomorrow’s game.”
