Greig Allen is next up as the 18-year-old central defender discusses his first Old Firm memory, his pride at representing Scotland, and his three dream dinner guests.
The teenager made his B Team debut as a 16-year-old before gaining further experience in the UEFA Youth League as an Under-18 last season.
International recognition duly followed with Scotland Under-19s, while the youngster also played his part in his side’s run to the Scottish Youth Cup final.
Although injury has interrupted his campaign this time around, Allen has benefitted from his appearances against elite European opposition in the form of Manchester City and AS Monaco, among others.
When did you join Rangers? I joined the club in the summer of 2021 after playing with Hearts.
Who was your first boyhood club? It was Giffnock.
Have you always been a defender or did you play any other positions in the past? I actually played in central midfield when I was younger, before I fell back one and settled in defence.
Who was your football hero growing up and why? I would say it was Cristiano Ronaldo, mainly because of his drive to win at any cost.
What is the first ever Rangers game that you can remember? I actually remember quite vividly when we won the league at Rugby Park in 2011. The Kyle Lafferty hat-trick just sticks in my mind.
What is your go-to pre-match meal? I keep it fairly simple and go for pasta or rice with chicken.
What is your favourite cheat meal? Indian curry.
Do you enjoy playing/watching any other sports? I don’t actually enjoy many sports outside of football.
What is currently your favourite TV show? I’ve caught up with David Beckham’s documentary and it’s a really great watch.
What is your best memory in football so far? It’s a tough one, but I’d say making my debut for Scotland at Under-17 level as it was a proud moment for myself and my family.
Who is your favourite band or artist? I’ll go with Drake as I often find myself listening to his songs.
Messi or Ronaldo? Ronaldo, for me.
Who are your three dream dinner guests, dead or alive? I’ll go John Greig as I was actually named after him; Jack Whitehall as he’s my favourite comedian; and Gary Neville who speaks really well on Sky Sports.
What is something you have always wanted to achieve in life away from football? I’d really like to visit Brazil and do all the tourist hotspots.
Most famous person in your contacts list? I don’t have many, in fact, but perhaps Robbie Neilson who was the manager of Hearts when I was there.
Favourite holiday destination? I’ll opt for Spain as I always really enjoy it.
Favourite subject in school? A pretty boring answer, but I’ll go P.E.
Your first pair of football boots? My first ever boots were Copa Mundial’s, so you could say I was destined to be a defender.
Which player would you least want to be stuck on a desert island with and why? Ross McCausland because he constantly eats boiled eggs and they stink!
