The boss says it is important the squad bounce back in the Scottish Premiership following last weekend’s draw with Livingston and hopes to see a positive result and display from his squad this weekend.
Speaking to the media at this afternoon’s pre-match press conference he said: “After we dropped points last week we need to win this game and the most important thing is to get the three points. Of course, you always want a positive result with a positive display so that is what we are going to try to do tomorrow.
“Last week we didn't start well, conceded an early goal and in the end with all the possession we had in their box we didn't make many big chances to score.
“We have to start positively and on the front-foot tomorrow. We need to start well, be organised, show energy, create chances and be aggressive.”
With a quick turnaround from the midweek game against Napoli, van Bronckhorst says it is important his squad are ‘mentally fresh’ ahead of the visit of Aberdeen.
He continued: “It is difficult because of course we know the difference in the competitions we are facing but a loss is still a loss so we had that feeling five times in the Champions League and we have to react.
“After the dropped points last week, the players are ready for it. We had a long trip home yesterday so the most important thing is we are mentally fresh tomorrow.
“I am sure the crowd will be behind us from the first minute and that is what we need at the moment. We are stronger together and of course it is also influenced by our performances but I am confident that tomorrow it is going to be a positive day for all of us.”
The Gers boss provided an update on his squad ahead of the match, with Kemar Roofe set to miss the game through injury.
He said: “All of the players who were in the squad against Napoli are available so that is good and of course we have Charlie McCann able to come in the squad again.
“Kemar picked up another injury so we won't have him for a couple of weeks. It is very frustrating for Kemar, he has a history of injuries not only with me but previously. He works hard and he is trying all the time to come back and whenever he is back it is always a set-back and that is frustrating for him.”
